crx B18 jump timing problem?!?
i picked the car up from jdmpower a couple weeks ago
and just started to work on it a couple days ago
it was sold to me as-is not running check out his log(on xceedspeed.com) to see the problems he had and what he tried so far to figure it out
im pretty stumped myself
so far, after checkin it all out i found some little things like,
thermostat not grounded correctly, vaccum lines mixed up, and i forget what else.
the big thing was, the time was off by 8 teeth
i checked compression = it was all good
so i fixed the timing and the car started up first try!!!
good right?
well it ran and we let it idle in the garage for about
15 to 20 mins while we tweaked some stuff and checked it out
then we pulled it out of the garage and went maybe a quartermile down the road and BOOM it sounded like the timing belt ripped off .
we towed it in the garage and checked the belt, it was tight as hell like it binded up or something so we thought it seized so said hey screw it lets crank it a little to see it anything spins. well did that and it tried turning over, then i checked the belt and it was LOOSE as hell so i checked the timing and it was back to where it was about 8 teeth off again.
i seemed like it wasent getting enough oil to the head either but im not possitive either way im stumped as hell i pulled off the belt while im guessing is now stretched, checked for the keyways in the cam gears (all good) i still have to check out the keyway in the crankgear, the timing tensioner and oil pump but im very lost has anyone ever had a problem like this?
or if you think you have any idea please help?
also anyone have a cheap b18 i could buy for parts?(maybe i'll just peice together another motor while im finding the problem with this one)
thanks any input, links, ideas would be greatly apreicated
