aluminum equal length manifold
i see mcmaster has some schedule 40 aluminum pipe now, just wondering if anyone has messed around with it or will it even stand up? schedule 40 is like 8 guage. what do you guys think?
all aluminum will melt and dissipate at the levels of heat the exhaust produces. Thats why most exhaust are made from mild steel, stainless steel, icolenel or cast iron.
alright, thank you, i knew aluminum would melt at high heats, but i wasnt sure about a thicker aluminum, if it would work or not. thank you for the info
in an exhaust... it wouldn't break down and crack... it'd straight up melt.
melting point of aluminum is approx 1215dF... egts : 1400-1700 dF
i'm using some of that aluminum tubing to make a short runner intake. You however can get it cheaper from http://www.onlinemetals.com

thanks for all the melting point numbers. those are interesting. i was just really curious about using schedule 40 aluminum for a turbo manifold cause i know that would be very light but i wasnt sure if that thick of aluminum would work or would it be just like any other aluminum. thanks guys.
heat conductivity rate of aluminum is a **** load higher than that of steel. if your manifold doesn't melt, it will start to crack from the stress of cooling down and heating up from driving... and then fall apart
