OBD1 GSR Turbo Hatch - VTM Signal for VAFC Installtion
I was hooking up my friends VAFC in his eg hatch. It's originally a CX and there is no wire or pin for the VTM signal. My question is
"do the OBD1 gsr's have a VTM signal?"
he had the gsr in a eg coupe and vtec worked fine. he just got his hatch and put the motor in with a drag turbo kit. the car starts sputtering bad at 4000, so he shifts... meaning he is not sure if VTEC even kicks in or not in the hatch.
last night when i was wiring up the VAFC, he didn't have a wire leading to the pin that was suppose to be the VTEC Solenoid Signal either. Also, we turned on the car with the power, ground, rpm, and throttle connected to the ecu. The VAFC was reading rpms, but not throttle. I checked the connection and checked the wire location and everything was fine.
The hatch he bought use to have an LS Swap and i was thinking the ecu harness was just left in there. He said that wiring harness used in the LS swap was the one he used for the gsr swap??? (don't know if that's possible) but if it is, then there's my answer.
He went and got the knock sensor pinned in along with the VTEC solenoid signal. So does he need to get the VTM Signal wire pinned in also?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank You

if the vtm is the oiil pressure on the vtec solenoid than you need to add the vtm wire from the ecu to the vafc. The vafc sends its own signal to the ecu. The actual wire from the vtm is cut and isn't needed. Don't you have the manual for the vafc?
i have hooked many of these up before. i know the vafc sends the signal to the ecu telling vtec when to kick in. i know the vtm wire is cut, but my problem is there is not vtm wire pinned into the ecu. it's an ls harness. i figured out the problem.
my friend got the vtm wire pinned into the ecu along with the solenoid signal.
the vtm wire and the vtec solenoid signal are two totally different wires.
i see what your saying though. thanks for the help maxrpm.
