I've got the 96 DX block with EX head, so I have no idea what the original EX harness looks like. both my O2 sensors plug in near the distributor.

Since I'm going turbo, and will be moving to a normal cat underneath the car (like the EX already has) instead of the one built onto the DX exhaust manifold, I'm wondering if I can just get the extension wire for the secondary O2 sensor from an EX.

What do you EX guys think? Where are the connectors on the engine harness for your O2 sensors?

Also, when I go to get my piping done in a few days, is there anything I can do to make the car run ok since the O2 sensors have no place to mount to?

 

I'm sure you can run an extension for the 2nd O2 sensor but I doubt the DC extension is long enough. The 2nd O2 sensors on EX's are mounted right after the cat and the connector for that O2 is under the car by the cat as well. Your best bet is to find some high temp wire and rig up a longer extension. Or you can get one of those sencodary O2 simulators which will allow you to run just the first O2 sensor.

 

yeah, you can extend em....what I did w/ my primary, is cut the plastic case of the wiring harness, and just pulled the wire back. that worked fine w/ out any cutting, or splicing of the wires.

just be sure not to cut any wires when you cut the harness

 

Hmm, I already cut the pigtail off for the primary and soldered on some lengths of wire so the primary would reach the downpipe. I think since I'll be going stand alone anyway I will not even hook up the secondary.
