Default i read the faq...can't seem to figure out how to get the engines code....

ok so i jsut picked up my lude...the check engine light is always on...i have DC headers full 2'1/4 cat back with CAT so all sensors are there etc....
AEM cold air and VAFC...
now i used to have a VAFC on my turbo teg and it would through some MAP codes at me once and a while so i would jsut turn the key on and off and it would be fine...now somtimes on my lude the cutt off is at 7000RPM and when Vtec engages its like i lose power...now if i reset by turning the key on and off...it comes back to normal having good power in vtec and shifting @ ~ 8200RPM.....BUT the stupid light stays on even though i reset....
so i tried gettign the codes and a mecanic budy of mine told me that the green little connector is on the helper side.. i checked and actually found on jsut like it but on the driver side...so i tried to check the codes but all it does is beep once or twice and no flashes occur....could someone help me...sorry for the lenth..

I have a 98 honda prelude and my check engine light is always on as well.. my code is p1259 vtec malfunction, online i looked around and found p1259 code is also " vtec solenoid or switch circuit ( rear- bank 1) "

Not sure what this means...
