ok I just got my JDM B16A and Im trying to figure out what year it is?

is there any ways to tell them apart....physical distinctions or maybe the serial number under the stamp could tell me?

on the head, at the top left side right near the exhaust manifold there is a little circle with 2 numbers in it like this 9|3 or 9|5 or whatever year the engine is. Also, does it have the MAP sensor as part of the throttle body or is it external, by external i mean is there a vacuum hose going from the t-body to the map sensor located somewhere on or near the firewall?
You can't actually see the circle with the numbers in it in this picture but it will give you an idea of where to look. Look at the top right of the picture. Oh and if you still have the exhaust manifold heat shield on you prolly won't be able to see the numbers. Hope this helps

 

in the circles I have the following numbers in this order 8/9 1/0 2/

so does that mean its a first get B16A out of an SIR

 

its a first gen. any b16 serial number that starts with 1 is first gen and any one that starts with 5 is second gen.

 

Ok so will a Hydro tranny off a sencond gen sir fit then?

 

any b sweries tranny will fit
but if you have a hydro clutch you will need a hydro tranny
if it is a cable clutch you will need acable tranny

 

There is a clutch on there right now ....how can I tell if its a hydro or a cable clutch?

 

first gen is cable and second gen is hydro, you have cable. you will need a hydro tranny and a cable---->hydro conversion kit

 

where can I get one and what are the prices?
