A/C making strange noise, help pls.
I rarely use my a/c in my R, but recenly I turned it on for a while on the interstate. I pulled up to a drive-through and heard an intermittent clicking noise coming from the engine bay. After I got my aRby's I pulled off to a parking spot and opened the hood. It sounded like a bearing rubbing or something. The only time I've heard a similar noise was in my 300zx days before my power steering pump bearing blew out= a mess. Anyway, I turned it on again today and immediately noticed the same noise. It doesn't happen when the air is on, only when a/c in engaged. I was thinking my compressor may be going bad, although it blows cold. Any idea's? Thanks

Its due to the fact you do not use the a/c often. By occasionally using the a/c keeps the system lubricated. You may also want to check for belt tensioner and perhaps a belt replacement.

I agree, most likely the tension on the A/C belt.
