Whining/squeeling noise while idling
Okay, on my girlfriend's civic she gets this really high-pitched ringing/whining noise after she has been idling for a little while. It doesnt happen all the time. I can also hear it when she shuts off the engine. When it's making the noise while Idling and I turn on the AC it stops. I checked the serpentine belt and then had a mechanic looked at it, and they tightened it and lubricated it. But the sound didn't stop. One mechanic said it was the water pump making that noise (maybe a bearing). And another mechanic said the pump sounded fine. Please Help!!!

It could be the A/C compressor clutch. Its basicaly a electro magnet that turns on and off. somtimes it will rub when the A/C is off. Try turning the A/C on and listen under the hood as the A/C compressor turns on and off and see if that is it.

usually its the ac,but my car has the same sound..its the radiator fan..hehehe
