Default Air condition making whistling noise

Every now and then my AC will make a wierd noise like a whistling sound when its running. The AC still blows cold though. Lately, the noise has been getting louder and longer. Does anyone know what might cause this and how would I fix it? Thanks for the help.

Does the noise come from the compressor?

I've sat around and pinpointed the noise coming from the glovebox area. So if the compressor is located near that area, then "Yes".

Its the blower wich is located under the glove box. The fan blades are plasic and tent to rub and even melt at times, it happened to me on my road trip to virginia. However it shouldnt do this only for the ac but also if you just have the fan on.

LEAVES IN THE BLOWER MOTOR!! You will need a 8mm socket to take out the 3 bolts and clean out the leaves

Well at least its not the compressor/pulley. The noise is mostly harmless I would suspect but I bet its annoying. I would agree with above poster that its most likely the fan.
