WHAT HAS HONDA DONE TO MY CAR?!
so i take my 89 crx si to honda because of a serious braking problem (fronts dont work.) They tell me my brake diaphragm has busted and my brake booster etc is shot. they also change my timing belt because the fluid has leaked onto and ruined it. . So i come back the next day and drive the car away. Only to discover IT DOESNT ACCELERATE. I floor it in 1st gear and it literally takes about 5 seconds to get to second. After second, theres no use in shifting because i cant get a far enough straightaway to get it past 5 or 6k rpms. If i shift before then, it begins to bog down. here are my mods
JR supercharger on d16 running 10 pds of boost w/ boost guage
JR fuel pump
JR fuel pressure regulator (at 34 pds) w/ pressure guage
DC headers, powercore race cat, cust. 2.5 inch exhaust
MSD Boost timing master w/ air/fuel guage.
The supercharger is working because the boost guage tells me its boosting and i can hear it. The FPR is still at 34 pds. ANOTHER THING is, the car is a LOT louder than it used to be (and i mean A LOT.)
Could this be a timing issue? if so, would it really make THIS much of an impact? i mean, i cant even make it up hills without flooring it in second now. some vacuum issue with my pedal or something?!? please help!!

Sounds like your timing is off...I would check it yourself if I were you. How in the world did you get Honda to work on a modded car???
they had no questions or anything about mods. even if it is the timing, would it really cause that much of a difference from running a mid-high 14 quarter mile to barely being able to make it up a hill in second??

They did have the timing belt off... I would imagine thats the problem. Take it back and have em fix it.
Why did you have Honda work on your car? I'd never take my car to the dealer for anything, labor charges are rediculous.

Agreed, they could quite easily pin this on you now since its been in your possesion for awhile.

Yes. You can be two teeth off on the cam and it will still run (smooth too, with ignition timing set correctly) but will have NO power. I was two teeth off, advanced I think, and the exhaust valves were opening early, losing on the power stroke. Ran smooth, just no power. 82 Accord LX.
They need to check the timing from crank to cam, make sure it's all aligned. If they changed the timing belt they didn't do it right.

Those expensive mods and u couldnt fix the brakes? U must have bought the car with that stuff already done...Sorry, off topic i know, but if u dont learn how to do it, then this is what can happen to u.
i didnt know what the hell happened. i was on the freeway when someone braked hard in front of me. i braked hard and all of a sudden the pedal popped up never to go down again. All i could think of was the master cylinder which seemed fine or booster but the master cylinder was replaced a month and a half ago and the brake booster only had a year on it. so, i brought it to honda to have them tell me what it was. thats when i found out the diaphragm busted and the booster had in fact gone in only a years time. Just had them fix em while they had it. Don't have the time or the patience right now. The power problem is fixed anyway. Timing was way off because the belt had slipped. Thanks to those who gave me great advice.
