Default Advice: More power for a 4th gen

I am shopping for a good 4th gen with it will have an f22a1 in it. I have been thinking about doing an h22a swap. But I hear some people like to turbo the f22a1. Please offer advice on which way to go, and price.

I have read through that thread and am more confused than before. There is a lot of back and forth. I was hoping the arguement would have boiled down to a few key points.

I will likely have an f22a1 with about 100k on it. would buying and having a turbo kit installed be a good idea? I would pay for labor as I don't know how to do that stuff yet.

It would be an excellent idea, as long as it is done right. I would be sure to do a compression test, and replace things like the head gasket before I started boosting. Also remember to get it tuned!! Remember along with a turbo comes more frequent oil changes as well.

Could someone post a link where I can find a good price on a kit for an f22a1? I'm assuming there are bolt-on aftermarket kits. If they are all custom-made, then I'm screwed.

with your lack of knowledge a turbo which can create A LOT of problems may not be the best solution to your power wants, first you have to think about your goals and then decide, if you want to stay N/A, then obviously you have to go with the h22, if you want to turbo, then you have to decide, h22 will provide more power at same boost levels and will rev higher, but it will cost more, f22 will be pretty cheap to turbo, but with high miles you may just encounter problem after problem, also with a turbo your risk of blowing up your engine increases a lot, especially if it is poorly tuned and you take short cuts...

read the forced induction selection a lot if turbo is the way you want to go, if it's N/A, then do the h22 which will have more reliability

id have to agree, u will have to do lots of research b4 stepping into the forced induction world. even if you are having someone put it in for you, its good to know what problems might go wrong and stuff.

but it has been dynoed and one guy with 15psi on stock internals has put out over 230hp and torque.

I've been debating this for awhile. I like my F22s reliability and don't want a lot of additional power, maybe 50HP. I've been thinking about adding a low pressure turbo, professionally installed with all the nice add-ons to make sure it works right the first time, no short cuts. The H22 is a very high revving engine and I don't want that as I rarely go above 5K RPM. Do your research and find a mechanic is has done it before on your type of engine.
