First off I wont be participating in this pole. Second, everyones going to vote for their gen. 3rd, here are links to both pic threads. Look through them both and decide for yourself. The main difference between the 2 models are cosmetic. Good Luck

fourth gen, cause thats what I can afford
I like that the fourth gen is a bit lighter, but its harder to get a fourth gen to look really nice. Fifth gens with the OEM lip kit are so nice lookin

the 4th gen has slightly differant gear ratio.
if you prefer obd1 then go with a 4th gen before 96.
also take a look at the gauges and interior look, i would stick with what interior you like best since you will be in it all the time.
either way enjoy the ride in a prelude.

no problems with either gen- I drive fourth but I still love the fifth, im sure the same goes for most ppl on here. In regards to OBDI oranginal, you pretty much need to have OBDI if you're tuning, but its easy enough to convert OBDII (in fifth gens and '96 4th gen) to OBDI

would you really like to know?
infamous problems with the 5th gens include faulty tiptronic trannys and stuff
infamous problems with the 4th gens include rust, climate control and stuff
things that are not normally prone to an average car.

just pick your battles. you have a higher chance of finding a really good condition 5th gen than a really nice condition low mileage 4th gen.
here in norcal the only 4th gens i find are all abused, riced out, or just plain have problems and have high mileage.
on the other hand, if the 4th gen was actually compltely restored, i'd opt for that because i think its cosmetically nicer and has a greater potential for having greater performance. i mean, somethings you just can't make up for power, such as chassis shape, weight, blah blah.

How do you figa? The 4th gen Vtec versions are like 20 pounds lighter.

I think the H22 makes up alot of weight in these cars. Because the h23 4th gen preludes w/o vtec have only like 2800
Someone correct me if im wrong.
Heres a link to some prelude stats https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=549372
Here i pulled it out for you

well thats because the h23 preludes dont have some of the features the vtec had; such as leather seats, greater size brake rotors, blah blah.
just take the non abs f22 prelude S model and go from there. that's what i'd do.
no need to buy a pig and make it wilbur.
