header questions!!!
ok guys, i just got my new motor put in, it's a b18c1 with ctr pistons, and an si head w/ stock valvetrain and s2s2 cams. but here's the deal...i don't know which header to buy, and i NEED to get tuned in the next couple of weeks due to school and the fact that i'm eating up more gas than a damn truck (and i'm running race gas too...so expensive as hell).
knowing this, what type of header do i buy? I was thinking of getting the jdm dc 4-1 header, but would like to know what you guys thought. I'd like to spend around 400 dollars on it if possible. It also HAS to have a 2.5" collector, to go with the 2.5" piping i'm going to be buying.
so, my questions are: is the greddy 4-2-1, 1pc header any good? does it even have a 2.5" collector; if so, how does it compare to the jdm dc header?
And how about the 5zigen header, somebody on clubsi told me that it was a good header, but again, not sure what the collector size is and if it's any good.
help me out guys, i'd love to get a toda or comptech race header...but they cost an arm and a leg, so help me pick one out for my setup that will be cost effective.
Thanks!

just did some more research, and the A'Pexi gt header looks awesome, and seems to be getting some positive feedback.
What do you all think about it? does it also have a 2.5" collector size?

how about the dynamic autosports header? It's a shop in lakeforest who make their own parts and the header is an exact copy of the Mugen header. I got mine for like 330 w/ the 2.5 flange. Give them a call..457-1234.

Given your time and price restrictions, the JDM DC will be your be your best bet. There are a couple places in the Sponsor Marketplace that have GREAT deals on them.
After that, start saving up for a real header from AN-R, DTR, SMSP, Bisimoto, Hytech, etc.

if i read this right you said you have stock valvetrain with skunk stage 2 cams....i wouldnt buy a header i would buy valvtrain that will let you rev your motor up to higher RPMs where the cams work well....i just did a customers b18c1 with CTR and same cams but with a built alaniz head, and i put on a ported JDM ITR header...it made 220hp 143 torque...good luck
thanks for all the replies guys...and holy ****, that mugen replica looks SICK
330 is NOT bad at all, i may call them up tomorrow and see what's up. Thanks!! I'm from santa barbara, so an hour and a half drive or so isn't bad i dont think, especially for a header like that.
about the valvetrain...i know, but i'm a pretty tame driver, i'll only be taking it to 9k rpms when at the track, which should be about 5-6 times a year lol (i say that now tho!). but yes, i know i need better...and that 1.8 you built....wow, all i can say is wow, elite

Thanks SI Erik!
Just called up Dynamic Autosports today, and ordered my mugen replica. That **** looks, and performs (as i was told) fantastically. Can't wait to install it and get that bigger piping to test it out for myself!

I hate Dynamic Autosports. I went to them for my swap and they dicked me around and they tried to gouge my friends. Example: One time I called and spoke normal, and the NRG quick release was $175. Called again, same guy, spoke a little different, it was $125. They did this to me 3 times. Now I call from my frinds shop on speakerphone and we call for fun now. Call Access Motors. The guys used to work for passwordjdm.com. They are the best. They might be able to hook you up w/ a good price. At least I know they are honest.
I hope you have better luck w/ Dynamic than I did.
