Default lots of smoke coming out of valvecover breather? ALOT!

well we turbo'd my buddies CRX last night, and during the course of it i notice the oil seal might be bad in the turbo...but we put it on anyways, and the next morning after about 3 hours of driving, his car barely idles????

and there is alot of smoke coming from the vlavecover breather line, could this be bad valveseals??? clogged up valves with oil and they arent closing all the way???

we took the head off last night and it doesnt look like his valves are seating all the way

any help is great

The pistons rings are most likely toast.Do a compression/leak down test.Bad valves seals would only suck oil into the combustion chamber and burn it out the exhaust/tail-pipe

yup ring lands are cracked for shure, all the smoke is blowby, so it must have detonated in that 3hour period

Or your rings could be OK and the edge of your pistons might have broken off; or could be both.

tried to do a compression test and the screw in type tester blew out of the plug hole?!?!?!

also, when i got the head off, it looked like his valves were NOT closing all the way, his motor injested over 4 quarts of oil in less than 3 hours of driving, could the valves not closing all the way do the same???

im just not seeing how bad rings or ringlands would cause smoke to come thru the valve cover breather wouldnt it just end up out the exhaust?????

crank case pressure will escape through the valve cover , you need to hook that compression tester back up

thats similiar to my buddies integra. It was his ringlands. 2 of 4 of his cylinders were fawked up. Oil (fumes) was pumping out of the valve cover like a Sisan Steamer, and you can't even see what is also pumping out the PCV side. We did, because his catch can gets FULL in 1-2 hours of driving. If you have a breather you'd see it. If not, all the plumbing routes back into the intake and will get burned.
