im putting a tach in a 98 honda civic ex ive got it mounted and extended the wire i know the black is ground,and where all the wires go but i dont get where to wire them to like the white on goes to 12v dash lighting which were do i splice into, the red goes to ignition what do i put that into and the green goes to the ignition, and i dont know where that is so if you guuyz could drop you r knowledge on me itd be apprecaited. thanx

 

just return it and get a gauge cluster...much easier...and kleaner....

1. find your dimmer switch and splice into the wire with voltage (for tach light) if you dont have a dimmer switch find a aux fuse that only supplys voltage when the lights are turned on.

2. find a good ground...no where near your stereo unless you want to hear your engine through you subs.

3. red wire goes to ignition. on the back of your ignition in your steering column there will be a 12v power supply to start the engine. splice into it.

4. the green wire is for you pick up. basicaly wire into the coil wire not the actual coil wire but the power supply for the coil. if you dont want to tap into an internal coil set up go by a msd blaster coil and cap for 40 bucks and splice it straight to the terminal.

hey tanx for te help[ i got 3 of te wires ooked up no prob took like 20 mins but te green wire is giving me trouble i cant seem to get it ive been playing around wit it by te coil or watever and my rpm pulses form zero to my sift point. on my questiuoins are civic 1 pulse or 2 pulse wit clipping te wires. ope to ear form you soon

 

as far as the pulses Im not sure but I do know you clip both wires almost all tacs come set up for 8cylinders, clip one wire and there set for 6cylinders, clip two and their set for 4 cylinders

 

there is an aux. plug for dash lights, ign. signal, as well as constant 12 V above the fuse box. They look kinda like phone jacks! LOL I can't remember which is which but a volt meter helped me figure it out really easy!

go to radio shack and pick up a 12v distrobution block, wire that in to the aux fuse with a blade (female)conn. and you have easy and clean tapping of a 12v switched source for neons, lights for interior and exterior.

 

hey ive been playing around witht he aux plugs and will mine civic still have a aux plug even tho i already have a tach

 

the aux slot on the interior fuse panel has nothing to do with the tack its just for the factory fog lights and equipment like that.
