tranny install
Hey guys. I DID do a search on this subject and found very little or no information regarding the removal/install of a tranny on a DOHC ZC. I know the basics, but if someone could simply clarify what I remove first and in what order (aside from the axels) so that I can have this tranny install ride smoothly.
Thanks,

Ok remove your axles like you said.
Remove the starter assembly
Remove speedo cable from trans
Support engine with jack or blocks and remove transmission mount
Remove all bolts holding transmission to the engine block.
Make sure everything is free and clear from the transmission
Lower jack or blocks and remove transmission.
Removing the tie rod on passenger side also helps when removing the trans
If I forgot abything someone please fill in the missing parts.

be sure to also remove the shift linkage, it might also help to drain the tranny befor you remove the axles unless you want to have the oil in the tranny all on the ground where you need to be to finish removeing it....

Thats my walkthrough on how to install ANY D-series tranny, for the 89-91 Civic HB and CRXs. The walkthrough was for replacing the Si tranny I blew out which was on my DOHCZC <- (start referfing to the ZC as the SOHCZC/DOHCZC so it can be searched) and replacing it with another Si tranny. Its fairly simple. HTH - Darrell

Thanks guys. Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to wait for the replies, but from what I've read I did everything like it was posted (in the same order too). New tranny runs well... except the fact that the frigin people that I got my engine swap off of jewed me on a good trans because I lost my intermideate shaft
Oh well, just happy to have my rex back. I think I lost a clip that holds the speedo cable and I HATE seeing that CEL (code 17 - VSS speed sensor) in so I'm going to have to fix that tomorrow, but yea.. everything went well and thank you all for the input!
