Can't you turn it around/flip it over and mount to the bumper bar?

the airbag sensors are located inside the car, its low down behind the center console behind the radio.. so you should not have any problems w/ airbag system after removing the or modifying the front bumper..

I was wondering that also...I was afraid to cust and hack too much. Mine is a little lower than I wanted, but you can't see it at all so I didn't worry about it.
EDIT: so if you cut up the bumper support, it will not affect the deployment of the bags?

Yeah, I have seen the airbag controller there. I had just been told by a couple people that there was some sort of sensor in the bumper. I hadn't seen any wires so I am inclined to believe you.

i got a johnnyracecar 6" intercooler mounted to the bottom of my bumper support. It hangs kinda low, but isn't too noticable. I could have just bent the tabs up though and monted it on the inside of the support so it would sit up higher. If you have to you could just weld new tabs on or something.

Try welding on tabs at the top or the sides of the intercooler?

there are no wires.. infact i know for fact that the airbag system will still work without that front beam there because 1.5 years ago i was in a serious accident and didnt have that reinforcement beam there and the car was totaled and the airbags did infact go off..

there is room to push it up a bit before it hits the bumper support. however, i dunno how i would bolt it on to anything. flipping the intercooler over pry wouldnt work cause then the pipes wouldnt line up right.

i forgot to mention there is ONE mount on the top, middle of the fmic....any good places to mount this to?and wouldnt removing the bumper support be just as good as cutting it?

Honestly, with the support cut that much, I highly doubt it's going to do it's job. That's why I just took mine completely off.

with my type 24 intercooler from greddy, the intercooler goes from the bottom of the core support to just under the hood latch, so i have no room at all for the bumper support, moral of story, don't get in wreck or die.

I think it helps hold the bumper cover up and out a little

PROBLEM SOLVED
took the bumper support out, threw it in my garage, drilled holes for the mounts. it now sits much higher and looks much better.

Actually...
As a result of driving on bald tires in wet weather, I had the expereince of spinning out on I-675 in Atlanta earlier this year [this was pre-forced induction]. I spun more than two full revolutions at 75mph, ended up sliding through the grass median sideways, then planing out and hitting head on a concrete bridge pillar at about 20-25mph. The bumper support took nearly all of the impact. I ended up replacing a bumper skin, bumper support, bent hood, core support [probably could have straightened it out though] and an AC condenser. Without the support, it could have been a lot worse.
Now, with my FI setup, I don't have room to have a support, unless it's hacked to ****, in which case it wouldn't support any impact at all, so I saw it as a weight reduction issue. I just drive carefully and not like a jackass. Boost is for passing people on the highway and racing...rarely used in regular driving.
