running a turbo chip, safe??
Ok so I've got a chipped/socketed ecu.
and i've got a partial turbo kit,
hasnt sold yet so i'm thinking of just putting it on.
i've got dsm 450's to use for fuel,
but then for management, i got didly, was thinking about the smc+ but now that I have a socketed ecu, why not use that to my advantage??
the place I had do my ecu work could pretty easily burn me up whatever chip I need.
Would it be safe to have them burn me a turbo chip?
I "think" I could probly just give them my specs(injectors, motor, turbo, boost level, etc) and have htem whip up somethin...
but I just wanted to know what you guys thought about this?
Cant afford anything major,
and I dont think I really have the time to "self/street tune" with uberdata or something.
The place I'm speaking of is well respected and they definetely know their ****.
so yeh, lmk what you guys think.

Tad, send me an email at toolowsol(at )comcast.net I just made a base chip in uberdata (5 minute job) and the car runs great. I've also used crome and it is a very nice program as well, the only advantage to uberdata is it has datalogging built in, where as crome you need to use a different program (no bid deal)
I can help you set up a chip if you want to

IMO I would NOT go anywhere near a 'pre-burned' chip. I don't believe in them, just too much of a risk to take if you ask me. You could burn a chip and your car may seem to run OK but fact is if you just don't know what your afr/timing is and consequently what it is doing to your motor. I would wait until I can get it tuned. Its your motor, your risk to take....
I think it goes without saying that any turbo car must be tuned, but getting a turbo chip puts you very close, then you can use a vafc to tune, or simply burn a new chip
Im running Crome on my boosted d series. Making a map that works isnt THAT hard. If you want best results you'll have to fine tune it though. You can make a safe map though it just wont be up to par vs. one that is wideband tuned.
Hope my $0.02 helped, PM me if I can give you more info.
