Need Help, if my ecu has a chip, can I still turbo?
I just bought a 94 si, and the previous owner did not know anything about it, well the truth is that I looked at the ecu, and it had a huge decal saying "DINAN", and as well opened it up and saw a chip. The car has different injectors, as well as headers intake ane exhaust.
I just bought a greddy turbo kit, and was wondering if I run with the chip (it has a raised limiter I believe) will it mess around with the turbo or engine, since it might be an all motor chip?
I really dont know who ealse to ask, please give me feedback.
thanks

depends on what the chip does............if your gonna get it tuned or standalone then it shouldnt matter....since it will get erased.

The chip is likely to have added fuel = good
The chip is also likely to have a advanced ignition curve = bad
to be on the safe side just retard your destributor 2 degrees more.

Okay, first off... thanks for the input.
About the chip,
I really dont know what it was ment to do, and I really dont want to try to take it out, because I believe it is placed in the computer in a certain fashion.
Secondly , I will probably just run with it, and hope that nothing bad happends.
Thirdly, no the car is red.
THanks for the input, and hopefully you will see me boosting soon.

I had this dilemna with my car too! I have an h22a1 with a dinan stage 2 chip installed. I'm going turbo and the best thing for you to do is to remove the chip and reinstall a stock one. Find someone who is looking to go NA and see if they will trade plus give u some cash and have the stock one reinstalled. the chip will advance ur timing and raise ur rev limiter, but unless u have the necessary mods to support ur drivetrain at that high an rpm, u'll actually start losing power that high in the rev range. I've been there. It's cool to have a high rev range, but in the end, it's safer to have a lower rev range and more power.

Open the ECU and cut the J1 loop. The ecu will run on its backup map and you will have no problems
