Default ATS 4.929 final drive question...

I was wondering if the ATS 4.929 final drive will work w/ a B16 Tranny, i know its for a type r tranny but b16 and type r's trannies are very similar to eachother.

The Racing Craft ATS gear chart also lists the Civic Si tranny nas well as the ITR tranny. I'm thinking it would fit your SiRII tranny -- don't think it fits the cable trannies though.

As for getting one...you know what I think.

i dunno the difference between at 99-00 Civic Si tranny and an SiRII tranny. When i got my motor, the VIN was missing from the tranny(i dunno why its just not there)(prolly stolen). It works fine i've had zero problems so im not worried about my tranny being messed up even though its prolly stolen.

It will fit in the cable tranny as will the ITR LSD. You need to trim the inner webbing to get it to fit. Blank did this to his B17a tranny and it's BA!!

Me and Tony have the same Avatar.

Blank has the ITR LSD and it hugs the road like crazy in a turn.

I don't think Blank has the 4.929 final - evryone I talked to around here thought the 4.929 was too short, including T.J, who knows Blankenship very well - I'm sure he would have told me about that.

Let us know your thoughts on the FD and how it felt, etc. etc. What's his setup, any downsides other than fwy rpms? Upside to that is the fkn 5th gear pull.. Basically what made u want it, maybe u can convince me to get it..

Hey bro, i'm the guy with the 4.929 he's talking about. If you'll do a search for topics started by me, than you'll find the "My Impressions..." topic. I get real thorough about it there.

Later.

nice new avatar..

How much did it run to put in the FD? Was the lsd put in at the same time? Either way, i was looking for a figure that i'll have to set aside for the near-future..

The tranny i have is the S80 Type R tranny that came with the swap. I rolled on that for a while until I broke some teeth off of my countershaft - the new FD comes with a new countershaft. (The tranny already had LSD.)

As for the labor, I work at a shop so it was free. I helped with it, and mostly just watched though. Hell I was scared of trannies before, but then I saw it torn apart and it wasn't as bad as I thought.

The tranny has tocome out obviously, but then you'll pay to have it torn apart too. While it's out you can repalce any questionable bearings like I did - those are pretty cheap - the labor is what's the costly part.

My suggestion? Have a Honda/Acura mechanic do it on the side - much cheaper, same quality.
