Default B16a2 Tranny

I keep hearing rumors that these trannies are weak. I was thinking of putting it in my GSR, but i'm afraid i might break the diff. Anyone have any experience of this tranny breaking?

They are not weak, just a bit weaker than the Type R with the same gear ratios.

Alright great, thanks. Should i have any worries about launching it? I've read some tranny guides that say the si has a smaller more weaker differential.

I believe the tranny you're referring to is the early B16 tranny known as a Y21 and S21, which uses a smaller diameter diff. To fix that all you need to do is drop in a S80 diff and ring gear and you'll be up to par with an S80, Y80 and S4C transmissions. But overall most of the hydro b-series trannys are great trannys that don't 'break' if treat em' right.
