Default b16 low end tourqe question?

Hallo,

i drive a stock B16 with T3/T4 Turbo wastegate set to 8psi.
the performance is ok, dyno result is 236 WHP.

my problem is, today i was driving around a long steight road with a small hill on it in 5th. gear (aprox. 4000rpm) but the car doesn't accelerate very much ... turbo builds full boost (8psi) but there was extremly less tourqe...

ok i know, its a 1,6 Liter engine and the manifold is not the best, but it feels that it is less tourqe then before the turbo swap... can that be? is this normal?

when i rise the rev then i have more power but the low end is extremly ****...

the A/F mixture is ok in this area (i looked at the wideband) could it be the ignition? whats about more advance? but i have fear the it began to detonate then i advance the timing... actualy i run 0,75° per psi retard. compression is 10:1

you have two things working against you, the b16 has like no torque down low, and your turbo isn't pushing as much air at 8psi when it is spinning that slow. If you want torque, get rid of the b16 or go with a smaller turbo that will reach it's full potential around 2000rpm's but then your peak hp will drop some

Hi,

ok you are right, but thats way i know by myself... i way just wondering that it is less tourqe with 8psi at 4000rpm then without a turbo at 4000rpm.

ok, the turbo blocks the exhaust so it is not so effective then a non fi engine... but is it such great difference??? but if i read your post i think it is ;-)
