Default broken block (motor mount)

i just traded for a block and now i have noticed that the drivers side motor mount on the block is cracked and there is a chunk missing. about half of the bolt is exposed where it should not be. i will try and get pics. up soon.

i know this is repairable, however is it worth it? i have searched for similar situations and didnt find much. however i did find one or responses where the people said that the shops quoted the outrageous prices.

so does any one have experiences and know how much this is going to run me to have it welded and tapped? and will the block ever be the same as one that has not had this problem?

thanks

i wouldnt think it would cost a ton because the block is out of the car right? i would just have it welded up and retaped it will be as good as new

My engine that I just got from spark racing , I notice that it also had that damage and it was repaired. Pretty pissed about it considering I asked if the block was not damaged. Is it just as strong for 300+whp?

I did an R6 motor for a buddy of mine, charged him $50 to have it filled in and re-tapped. Machine shops will charge much more though, unless you've got a friend with his own tig machine in his garage

Do you have the broken off peice that is supposed to cover that spot? if so the yes it can be done cheap, if you dont have tha broken off peice then its gonna get expensive. But let me ask you are all of the other mounts present and in good condition? if so i would leave it alone, just make sure that no other sections near that hole are loose or about to fall off, cause it could fall into the timing cover and cause probs later. good luck
