I'm still breaking in my motor and I decided to give it a quick open throttle run to see what my AFR was. I've done this a few times before and it only hit 8psi but this time it hit 20. The hose going from the turbo to the waste gate seems fine. Could it be that my gage is screwed. BTW its a used turbo kit.

 

if you have access to another gauge hook it up and see what it reads. double check the line running to your wastegate, if it has even a tiny leak in it, the wastegate won't be able to read boost and it will just keep building

 

I double checked the line I blew into it and it holds pressure. I just noticed that on the side of the waste gate (deltagate) there is a port that is open. I can't remember if it was plugged before or not. Would that be the reason possibly? Also why am I not throwing a code??

 

What kind of boost controller are you using? Your vac line should be in the side port and not the top so if you have it reversed that could be your problem. The top should be left open.

 

Oops, I just tried switching them around and now its fine(6psi). Thats how it was when I got it so thats how I left it, stupid me I should have checked it out. I hope I didn't hurt anything cause I took it to 6-7 thousand at full throttle a few times.
