Roll Bar
While we're on the subject of roll bars....
just how effective are the Cusco bars for the S2k? I'd seen previous bars/cages that didn't appear to be too sturdy in Integras, Civics, etc., because of the amount of bends in them. Are these bars the same?
The 4 pt. chromoly bar with harness brace appears nice, but how does it measure up to NASA and SCCA CC-R rules and regulations?

i think it all depends on which cusco roll bar you get.... some of them i've heard are only for show (bling factor) while others actually work.. unfortunently i don't think any of them are cleared for SCCA..

I haven't seen a cusco product related to cages that I would trust in a rollover.

The Cusco cage is definitely not FIA or SCCA approved. You need need to weld extra bars to make it work. If you plan for normal lapping day then it will be fine.

But, it's JDM y0!
I would check out the Elda rollbar or the Bitterman seems to be a pretty nice piece. Some people were saying things about the way the Bitterman leans more inward and how it may effect rollover safety. But, it seems to be a pretty well made piece and with some strength.

unless mugen now has LHD versions available, the RHD version is useless here. As far as I know, they use mild steel tubing in their cages. I prefer cromoly.

The elda is a superior design to the bitterman. I would not trust the bitterman in a roll over.

Between the Elda and the Cusco, the Elda bar is definitely the better choice for track use from a safety perspective. A competant tech inspection at a track event or autoX would likely fail the Cusco bar.
The Elda bar does have isues in that it reduces the legroom in the car. The driver's seat cannot slide all the way back with the Elda bar installed. It reduces the amount of seat travel by about 3 inches which can be a problem if you have very long legs.
My friend that I autoX with is probably 6'1" or 6'2" and he has the Elda bar in his S2k. He told me that there is plenty of room for him for a track seating position (up closer to the wheel). But the reduced legroom that the Elda bar causes makes long highway trips somewhat uncomfortable.
