H22 EG CIVIC EGR CODE DISABLE ON P13 ECU.
So I have an EG with an H22 motor. During the swap, we blocked off the EGR because we used the AEM fuel rail and it wouldnt fit with that EGR in place. I was originally running a P72 ECU, but VTEC would not activate or maybe I just couldnt feel it. So then I purchased a P28 and pretty much the same thing above happened. So finally I tried the original P13 that came with the swap and boy VTEC kicks in and is strong but now its throwing code 12 EGR on the check engine light. Is there any way to wire it up so that you trick the ECU into thinking that all is well. Detailed wiring info would be good.
find out for sure if vtec is being activated with the p72 or the p28. if it is, I would chip the p28 and have it tuned.
why jerry rig when you have two almost functional options?

USDM wire colors are the same as JDM.
Connector colors means that when looking at the connector (wire pointing towards you) that the way they should line up (From left to right)
EGR lift valve solenoid
(The connector colors, From left to right) BLK/YEL and RED
Sensor Voltage - BLK/YEL - goes to A25
ECU trigger - RED - goes to A11.
EGR Lift Sensor (the actual EGR on the intake manifold)
(The connector colors, From left to right) WHT/BLK, GRN/WHT, and RED/WHT
ECU trigger - WHT/BLK - goes to D12
Sensor ground - GRN/WHT - goes to D22

You should feel Vtec with either ECU.

Nope, Same as USDM.

well you could try to find what the normal voltage or resistance is if its working and rig up some resistors or something to make it work....but that could be more trouble than its worth...
The P13 code 12 (EGR) is a normal occurence when doing an H22 swap into an civic/integra. There isn't a fix for it, program-wise, unless you run the EGR and please the ecu's demand for one.
As far as VTEC kicking on for your P72 & P28 ecu's (if they were completely stock), the reason you probably didn't "feel" VTEC is because VTEC kicks on pretty early in those 2 particular ecu's....at about 4400-4800rpm. Whereas the P13 ecu kicks VTEC on at around 5300rpm which you can totally hear & feel. So, I bet the P72 & P28 ecu's kicked on VTEC just fine, it just went unnoticed/unfelt because of the early crossover point(s).

I can understand how you might not feel VTEC when it is set to engage early on a P72... But I have a chipped P28 running a P72 program, and even when VTEC is set to engage anywhere from 4800 to 5500 you still can not feel, nor hear it.

you guys sure your vtec is turning on ?? my p28 stcok kicked at 5200 and you could feel it !! I had it set recently when i got it retuned my hondata and has it set at 4700 to help witht he secondary butterfly stalls. I dunno when my duece engages in vtec 1st or 2nd the tires usually give a long screech. You can hear and feel it. i would check your wiring. Anyone with a h22 knows you can feel it bigtime. h22 lose there breathe at 5000 without vtec it feels as if you would be go faster shifting like you were in a truck.
also if the p13 is a more aggresively mapped ecu than the p28. p72 is pretty nice but, will lean out the duece in the higher r's. But, if vtec engages on one ecu it should on all !!! i would keep the p72 if your going to run it on stock programming for a while and have it chipped or go hondata ditch the p28 unless running hondata

I don't know what the deal might be with my car then... I am using a stock airbox, but I still believe I should be able to hear VTEC kick.. here's my problem...
The other day we hooked up a p13 in my car, I have all the wires hooked to the right accessory and had repinned the harness to accomodate for the change.. im thinking that i am missing the egr lift solenoid which should be needed when using a p13.. when I have the p13 connected, car is sluggish off the bottom and has a very strong hit around 6100.. in conjunction with a black cloud of smoke..
running the p28 is totally different.. from a dead stop car pulls really really hard.. pulls hard all the way up to 7k.. difference is that there is no noticeable change in powerbands when vtec should be engaging.. I am not throwing any CEL's... whats your take? TPS out of whack?
I think I will unplug the vtec solenoid tomorrow and see how it compares to with it plugged in.. see what happens in limp mode.
any input is appreciated, sorry if im a dumbass

my take is test it without vtec connected, see if there is a difference, no cel dosen't mean vtec will turn on. my car crushed oil pan (which i figured out later) wasn't enough oil pressure for vtec to engage but, no cel. try to manually engage vtec with the 12v method see if it clicks !! if it does then your problem is somewhere else.
for the p13 running crappy and slow is sorta wierd could be cause of the p13 is a aggressively mapped ecu's and has a better fuel curve than the gsr anyone have any clues on this ?? i've never ran a duece with a p13 and egr dismantled so i can't say thats the issue for sure but, i know you should be pulling a code for your egr if not connected properly ?? and for the 6100 kick could be secondaries butterflies adds to the kick?
the p72 program on your p28 will make a h22 scream and run like crazy but, remeber you lean out up top a little.
if you have a fpr set it to at least 49psi WOT
get a diode from radio shack just to jump it for troubleshooting purposes to see if it helps. check your oil pan if its jdm they get crushed during shipment and your oil pick up unit isn't getting the proper oil pressure = no vtec !!! the first thing since this is a hybrid or swap check oil pressure !!! out of 6 swap i've had usdm and jdm myself personally all but 1 were crushed onto the oil pickup unit !!
check you oil pan if you see whjat looks like an outline of a smiley face stop running the vehicle unit you replace the pan. honda oil light comes on at 7psi i think which is basically no oil at all so if you have 15psi no enough for vtec but high enough for no cel
check those things let me know
