bad rings? any way to tell by looking at them?
i had low compression in one of my cylinders, so i ended up just pulling my motor apart as it was spraying oil out the exhaust.
but, the rings look the same on all my pistons, and i even ordered new rings and they all look identical.
i dont see any chips, or anything on any of them.
and, the new rings have a slightly larger gap on them, could it be because the old rings were compressed for so long and the new rings havent been compressed yet>?

thats exactly why im trying to see if there is a way to tell if the rings are bad specifially because of the rings or not.....
check your cylinder, run your finger nails and see if it gets caught on something, also, check to see if the cylinder walls are uniform, especially on the top.
