weisco piston ring installation.........
i have a set of weisco piston rings that i purchased from Jeff at importbuilders.com
i can see the top and second rings have numbers/letters near the gap of the rings so those face upwards on the piston.
but the oil control rings have no marking on them at all. i asked Jeff and he told me there should be number/letters on the oil rings as well but there isnt.
could it be that the oil rings can be installed either way facing up or down? i cannot see any markings at all on the rings.............and they all look the same....
anyone else have this problem? does it matter which way i put these rings in?
any help would be appreciated.
thanks

What's the part number of the rings.. I'm hearing a nasty rumor that Wiesco and JE are distributing low tension motorcycle style rings with their pistons.
If the last digits of the ringset is XC then they're low tension rings, get em swapped or for standard tension so you don't have to pull it apart after 10-15k miles!
FYI!

the oil gap ring can be installed in both ways, only the primary and secondary rings are the one that can be install in one direction

Yeah the oil control rings should be able to go either way like stock rings; just make sure the compression rings are upright though. How much are those wiseco rings btw?
