Definitely send back the chip if you can, and put that money towards proper tuning with the S-AFC.

yeah i can send the chip back because it's a jet chip and there are seals on the computer that aren't broken. i'm going to do that and get some dyno time to tune.

Send that JET chip back and buy yourself an EPROM burner to burn your own chips. Use this program called Uberdata to change ur fuel and ignition maps, raise ur rev limiter, change ur VTEC engagement point, retard timing according to boost pressure, etc. This program is like Hondata but FREE. U just need to buy an chip burner and the chips. but u need to know how to tune it.
check it out: http://www.ecimulti.org/uberdata/

If you've already got a socketed ECU and are OBD1, Uberdata is a great way to go. Get a quality wideband O2, and a chip burner, and you'll be able to do some tuning on your own.

You can also check out CROME, I'd ditch the SAFC and the Jet chip, get the EPROM burner like boosted said and start messing around with self tuning, begin your self tuning adventure by reading this website's forums and FAQ's http://www.pgmfi.org
