Default Replacing the ECU - f23 alternatives

ok well i'm not looking to get bitched at for speeding but my 02 6th gen does indeed have a rev limiter. I know it sounds crazy because it doesn't come stock, but the dealership must have installed one. It shifts into 4th at about 4300rpms but then it drops down to 4k and holds, it won't pull past 4k in 4th gear which limits it to 105mph and me to 3rd gear runs.

i got a buddy who plays with his b16 with uberdata, would it be possible for him to just remove the rev limiter for me? Or are there other options for a plug-n-play install? I know the p28 ecus are used for hondata setups, but I'm not sure if those will work with my auto. Any help would be great guys (n gals), thanks

I have not had the place yet to test mine out. However @105 I had no issues. By the way I have an 01.

bd1 conversion and a p28 will work wonders once you chip it and tune it...if you were 5 spd, being an auto you are fuct pretty much.

if you have a 5spd then your gearing will be different, because you have an extra gear they can be shorter (another reason why sticks are better than autos, that extra gear helps to keep in the powerband)

I know that the car should be able to go 120-130np, hell its not even stock I have intake/exhaust/nitrous.

What other than the ECU would cause that though? Nothing I know of, so best I can figure is the dealership installed a lower rev limiter than Honda intended. So no one has any suggestions? What if I just went to a junk yard and got an f23 ECU, i should be able to swap it in right? At least that would let me know if it is really an ecu.

do you have a DX model? I think the DX's DO have a rev limiter right around 105-110

edit: and to run an OBD1 ECU on the 6th gen you need to install an OBD1 IAC sensor.... just an FYI
