yes you can run wg spring pressure wit hteh manual controller. just turn the XS MBC down instead of cranking it up. It will only run what ever spring is in the WG
if the WG has 5psi spring then you cant go lower than that but you can have it set exactly 5psi and then if you want more you can crank up
