VTEC CONTROLLER FOR 97 GSR
hey i have a stock 97 GSR. I want to get a Apexi Vtec controller. I was wondering, what would be beter to get. A V-AFC or a V-AFCII. Also, when i get one, what rpm should i tune it to?? THANKS
a v-afc(II), doesn't really have much to do with controlling the vtec, it really controlls air flow is a vtec engine if i'm not mistaken, i actually know alot more about s-afc's than v-afc's so that's what i'm going on. A v-afc2 will be better than the first version (although i think the first looks better) since you can have 2 different modes-one tuned for performance-and one tuned for economy. You also ABSOLUTELY want to have it dynotuned, if you do it yourself and do it wrong, you can mess stuff up badly, and even if you tune it like someone else did, with the same mods as you, in the same car as you, it can still be off; so pay to get it dyno'd.

If your GSR is stock, there isn't going to be too much you can get outta it. I wouldn't waste money on that without having some cams or something in there to make me actually get something to adjust air/fuel and VTEC engagement. Just leave it alone. Spend the money elsewhere. There is no way to tell you where the optimal settings should be if you are to purchase this part. You have to dyno tune the car and go with it from there.
