i have basic bolt ons on my GSR and a friend is willing to give me a vte controller for free. i was wondering would i benefit at all for moviing vtec up more? where is the best setting for vtec engagement on my gsr

 

if it was free i would take it, but the only way to really gain power from it is to take it to a dyno and run one run with vtec on, and another with it off, and where those two lines cross on the dyno is where you set your vtec point at.

 

Take it if it's free, but don't mess with the controller until you go to some tuning facility. Every car is different, even if it's the same car. What works great on my car might work terrible on yours.

Is it an Apexi V-AFC? Or Fields? Or something else?

 

^^ what they said. the only way to truely benefit from a VAFC or as you & many others call it v-tec controller is to throw the car on a dyno and tune it that way.

 

agreed, u don't realy have to do anything with it until u get some mroe stuff done to your car, for example like cams, intake mainfold and so on!
