If your car is mostly stock, it wouldn't be worth it IMO. I have a 97 GSR and bought it from the previous owner with the VAFC already installed, but the only other mod done is a cai, so the VAFC really ain't doing **** other then taking up space and looking pretty in my interior. But other than that its a very good tool for tuning your car IF you know what your doing that is. As for cons, really I don't have anything negative to say about them. The way I see it is that no matter how much you know or think you know about honda/acura the people who designed and built them know a whole lot more than you and they made the vtec kick in at a certain rpm for a reason. If your not gonna be racing your car all the time then why mess with your vtec?

But hey, thats just my .02

My thoughts exactly....I dont know why people would wanna run a chip ecu, vafc, or spoon vtec controller when there car is still stock with probaly just I/H/E and expecting to gain 20hp to the wheel because they think there vtec will engage quicker at a start of lower rpm. I always tell people to get as much bolt on as you can, good clutch, tires, suspension, after that maybe some good cams to go along with a stronger valve train and then thats when you wanna run a chip ecu or vafc, so that everything will be compitable with eachother.

you think a b20 block , gsr head , dc header, aem cold air intake, aem pulleys, 8.0 wires, ngk sparks, cat pipe, full catback apexi dunk
5 dollars ebay chip chipped integra 1995 ls ecu , gsr lsd tranny, act heavy dutty pressure plate , street strip disk.

you think this will be good to get a vafc??????????

and i know some jap that had a b20 built up himself from the oil pan to the valve cover and no body at the street races could beat his car!!!

crx with b18c1 all bolts ons plus nos got kill by my friend the jap plus alot of expensive v8s lol

why are you running an chipped ecu.. is your v-tec even engaging.. because i know this kid who had a built ls-vtec motor and lost to a stock b16 and both were in cx's and all he had was a chipped ls ecu... IMO go p-72

you only need to get a vtec controller when you get bigger cams. then you will need to raise you vtec point.
vtec need to be set when the primary cam lobes stopmaking power and you need to go into the bigger vtec cam lobe.
with bigger cams the primary as well as the vtec lobe is bigger. so sinich the primary lobes are bigger they dont stop making power untill past the stock vtec engagement point, so vtec needs to be raised to where the primarylobes stop making power. and due to the larger vtec lobe the redline needs to increase as well because the larger vtec lobe wont stop making power at the stock redline
