Default Help! Please identify Nissan turbo for me

I've already looked through a lot of nissan turbos and I can't find the exact turbo that matches the one I have.

Anyways, here are the pics of the turbo I have:

It's got a t3 turbine inlet flange so I think its a T3.
I currently use a mitsu 14B on my B16, do you guys think this would work better?

Thanks!

looks like a garett t25 possibly ... not to thread jack, but tell me more about your 14b, spool time, dyno numbers?

If you want to use that t3(or whatever), you willl have to get a different DP flange made, and mabey a different manifold flange also

The turbo above is considerably larger than the 14b i have in my car now. I think a t25 should be smaller if not the same size as the 14b, right?

The 14b spools at around 2k rpm and hits full boost at 3k, lol!
Its got decent midrange, but nothing that would press you into your seat.
I dynoed 190hp w/ an auto trans @ 6.5psi using the afc hack.

Again, please help me identify the turbo

what car did it come off. its looks to be a straght t3, it obviosly has no wastgate actuator so you need one, or have it welded shut and run an external.

The inlet flange looks too big to be a T25, but it's hard to tell from that camera angle. Just measure the distance between the bolts.

My guess is that it's a T25 from older SR20DET. That compressor wheel is tiny.

It's an RB25DET turbo from the look of the exhaust flange on it. It's a Series I turbo since it has a metal compressor wheel vs the plastic on the series II motors. It's got a T3 inlet flange with a T28 turbine housing and a T3 compressor. The outlet flange is on of a kind. I had some flanges laser cut if you need one for the O2 housing/DP. Great turbo BTW. It's a ball bearing turbo and should suport 250+ WHP on a B16. I am going to put the one I took off of my motor on my GF's GSR.

Just one thing to remember about the turbo. The turbine wheel is ceramic and is teh weak link on the turbo. On a 2.5L 6 cyl you dont' want to run more then 12-13 PSI. On a 2.0L 6 CLY (RB20DET) you can run upto one bar and be safe so I would keep it around 1 bar max. You will need to run coolent lines for the center housing as well.

Thanks a lot for the help guys!

The compressor inlet measures 2"ID and the outlet is 1.75"ID.
The turbine inlet is 2.5" by 1.75" (it's a rectangular shape).
I have everything that came from the turbo when I picked it up from a salvage yard, including the water lines, downpipe, wastegate actuator, etc. I just removed it so you guys could see the turbo better.

I think I'm gonna change out my old manifold, 14b turbo, and downpipe and make a new one that will fit with this turbo. How much do you guys think this would fare against the t3 super60?

Hey! I found this info from http://members.iinet.net/~saye...s.htm:

Car of Origin: Nissan Skyline R33 GT25-T
Engine: RB25DET
Flange: Four bolt T3 style
Max. Power Rating: Approximately 185kW
Max. Boost: 1.2bar (17.4psi)
Cover Size: AR not identified
Comments: The big daddy of the range makes the RB25 turbocharger good for almost any mild six-cylinder application. Sparkling boost response in the low-rpm range and a reasonably hard-hitting top end make this the most common upgrade found on the RB20DET. It's highly recommended.
Cost: Being very difficult to get hold of makes them highly variable in price. Sometimes about $700, sometimes more.
Rating: Five out of five.

Is this the one I got? lol! I'm getting excited

Like I said this turbo is an awsome turbo for Honda's. Please let us know how it turns out.
I made 230 WHP at 10 PSI of boost one my stock RB25DET.

Any updates? I would like to see how this works out for you.....If you need flange for the exhaust outlet I still have one left. I got 10 of them laser cut so I could make a custom DP for my RB25.

Hey! I'm back! lol

Thanks for the offer 89civic1.8T but I don't live in US How is your GF's GSR setup going?

I got new a manifold and downpipe fabricated so that the nissan turbo would fit. Going to post some pics of it as soon as I get a chance.

At first I got scared because there was a LOT of oil going through the turbine seals, but after driving for awhile it went away... but it occasionally comes back. What could be the possible cause for this? I think that its the oil return, but what do you think?

Another question I have is this: With my 14b turbo I'd hit full boost by around 3K rpm, but w/ this turbo it would start spooling by 3K and then hit full boost only at around 4K. Is this normal?

Thanks!
