10,000 RPM 550+whp questions......
What is needed to safely rev this high with turbo?
B18b - now 2.0L
Block is sleeved
Manley turbo tuff rods
Wiesco pistons
9:1
ARP head studs
Fully ported head, valves, springs, retainers, valve job, everything....as far as the head goes i was told 10500rpm all day safely by the guy that did it. I just want to make sure the bottom does come apart...and if i need something i do not have.
Looking into main studs, Which arp's do i use? b16a or b18c? I am not equiped with a block girdle.
Please, knowlegable answers only, Not "i heard that...." "or my friend....."
Do i need anything else for this to work correctly?

i suggest doing a little more research. you most likely wont make power at 10,000 rpms
and yeah you will need more than just a bullet proof motor to make 550, you need a efficient turbo setup, combined w/ a decent fuel management and proper tuning.

Yes mase, I know this, I figured that that stuff does not be included in the question i was asking, But thanks anyway for pointing that out to me.....like one thing that would help would be a way for you to tune it after it is done. I'm not looking for help making the hp. But how would i not make power at 10,000? are you saying power can't be made at 10k?
Bored, Honed, Decked
Crank balanced, polished
Honda Bearings properly sized to Honda Spec
Thrust washers + all new seals in block
Assembly, with clearance checking blueprint. Thats what the site says about the block i have.

He's saying that chances are your car is not going to make power at 10 thousand RPM's. You'd need bigger cams, lots and lots of headwork, a good flowing intake manifold, and a large turbo with a big A/R housing.
lots and lots of headwork- full rlz head, Brad is pretty good.
good flowing intake manifold- JG intake- rated 7000-10000rpm
t4 turbo S cover .70 - .68 ar on exhaust
Forgot to add it's a B16a head. I realized i didn't mention that.
same engine set up, similar turbo made 488whp at 15psi.

At what RPM? That should give you an idea where yours will make power if it's similar.

when it comes to setups, I like to keep things simple. Im not all for these wild cams and ****. Im a big fan of OEM. TYPE R cams work great. why are you so set on making power till 10k?
I dont recall one single car (turbo) that kept making power over 9k....most die off before or around 8500.

They stoped at 9k, was still making power. (b16a cams were used)
I'm not set on running 10k, I'm just saying that i would like to be able to take advantage of being able to run higher rpms <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by DIRep972 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Keep in mind, if your engine peaks power at 9000, you should be able to rev it to 10k to maximize your powerband and your gearing.
</TD></TR></TABLE>
Would that justify the need to have the ability to rev to 10k safely?
