Default Vafc....valuable for launching at the track

i just wanted some of your opinions....when i had my vafc...i hit 2.2 and 2.1 regularly with plain old street tires..., it was never tuned and sat at zero, but ever since ive gotten rid of it i cant launch it anymore...i usually launch at 5500...and slip the clutch...my theory is that the vafc allowed me to switch to the high cam while i was holding my revs on the line, thus i came out of the hole already in vtec....without the vafc, its on the low cam and bogs everytime i try this, im getting another vafc just for this purpose, but i wondered couldnt i just wire up a switch...for launching that would enable me to overrids the ECU and let the cams switch...kinda how the vafc controls the sol....

Does a VAFC let you hit VTEC while not in gear?

yes....when im staged to run, as i rev up the car you can hear it switch to the high cam, in fact, it will even hit vtec before the car heats up, which isnt really good...but using that feature at the track helps a ton

havent seen you post in a while, just out of curiosity, what times have you been pulling lately? now that you dont have your vafc anymore, how much slower did you get?

you're just being paranoid, i didnt think you could engage vtec while not moving... perhaps you forgot how to drive ...

nah i havent forgotten how to drive...lol...and yes, the vafc bypasses the oil pressure solenoid...it also bypasses the vtec sol...therefore it controls when it hits vtec...and i know it engages while in 1st and holding the clutch to launch, you can audibly hear it switch over...my launches arent nearly as good, and my 330 ft marks are slower as a result...even with similar 60fts...i ran 14.0 on street tires without it, full exhaust, i couldnt get one of my header bolts off to run open header, my MPH was like 99.95 or so...98 degreees 100 percent humidity..ect..mid july....i wanna get the vafc again to help my launches again..peace
