Default Got a weird VAFC question for ya...

Okay... I previously had a VAFC for my motor and it had altared settings. I recently removed the VAFC so I could sell it, but I didn't reset the settings. I was wondering if those settings from the vtec controller would still remain even after the VAFC was removed? Or would everything go back to stock when the VAFC is removed?

Thanks

if you reset the ecu, should go back to normal.

they will be saved unless you re-configure the VAFC. which is under the settings mode, and will set everything back to defaults

They will remain. He will have to do a factory reset on the VAFC through one of the options in the menu. I have reset my ECU and left the battery unhooked for days and the VAFC held its settings.

i dont think with the VAFC disconnected it can save the maps the map would be erased immediately upon being disconnected .....and even then they woudl be gona like state when u reset the ecu

make sense?

if its not resaet the info will stay in the vafc but not in the car after being disconnected. This is because the vafc has a memory like a computer, otherwise you would lose everything every time you shut off the car...

All these answers are not clear so I'll do my best to sum it up.

The Apex'i VAFC is a piggyback unit so there for it does NOT modify the ECU in any way shape or form.

It's purpose is to modify the signals the motor/ecu sends and acts as a middle man.

So if you remove the VAFC, the settings you have set will be saved onto the unit and not the ECU.

The only way to modify the ECU is to actually reprogram/chip it.

So basically speaking, if you remove the ECU, all the "tuned" settings that you made will be on the unit itself and not the ecu.

The settings in the VAFC will remain in the VAFC until it is reset.

The ECU always remains stock. The VAFC just modifies the signals sent into it. Therefore once the VAFC is removed the ECU will work just like before it was installed.

Hope this answers all questions.

I thought they were all pretty straight forward...
