Default zc sohc block and a d16z6 head will it work ?

I've got a 94 civic ex and my bros got an 88 crx with a zc sohc swap. I'm wondering if by using the bottom end of that engine and my d16z6 head will work in my civic .

if the bolt patter on the zc is the same as the d16a6 (from the old *** TEG'S) then no it has a different bolt pattern. but i am not sure as to the bolt pattern for the zc block. but i would think since these two engines are essentially the same then no it wont work. i know the a6 wont work cause we tried to put that head on a a1 block making a dohc crx si engine w/o having to locate a zc when those heads are a dime a dozen in my local junkyard. maybe someone on here will be able to tell you if the pattern is the same, but im guessing no.

the zc engine is basically the same as an 88-91 si d16 but with higher compression and bigger valves.

yes, but i think the headbolts dont line up. they might, but the d16a6 is the same platform as the zc and i know the headbolts on the A6 dont line up with the A1 (i might have these numbers confused it is kinda late here in spain and im kinda drowsey) but im sure someone on here has gotta know

if your talking about a sohc ZC block and mating it with a 92-95 Sohc Vtec head "YES" it will work because i did this once and only one time for a requested customer the headbolts line up and everything just use your hydraulic parts for the tranny and dont forget to pull out the oil jet on the ZC block

The keyword is SOHC.

Obviously not. And didn't somebody at one point mate a DOHC head to an SOHC block? I thought I had seen that somewhere.

I know that there is a sohc and a dohc zc. I might've gotten it mixed up with b-series. But then since it's a dohc I thought the bolt patterns would be different.

if the ZC is a SOHC block then of course it will work.

if the ZC is a DOHC block then NOPE,
the D16Z6 sohc head will not work...
*if it did then you'd see us all swapping dohc ZC heads onto our sohc shortblocks!
