14 sec n/a d16z6, possible???
My plan is to get into the 14's with a n/a d series motor. So far I have a lightened flywheel, daikin clutch, 2 1/2 cat back exaust, dc sport header, cai. I under stand you can raise compression by using a d16y8 metal head gasket. Any other tricks for my quest for 14 secs?? Oh yeah, I have a 90 crx si. Thanks..
Their are a few guys on here who have 14's d16z6, I remember the one guy named bserieskllr, something like that.
1.weight reduction
2.skunk2 or edelbrock manifold
3.driving skills
That should put pretty close to high 14's. I'm not sure how much money you want to spend though. Because their are other things you could do, such as VAFC,ect....

I plan on building the motor over time. First thing I'm gonna look at doing is chipping my ecu followed by a new cam. Maybe port and polish would be a good idea before installing it.
Don't over look things like suspension and traction. You will need to be able to utilize whatever power you have and get it to the ground. A good suspension set-up with either some drag radials or slicks can help you achieve this. Also, if you can, get your car tuned on a dyno. You can not only fine tune you car, but you can also use the graphs to see where your power is, and thus help determine shift points. Good luck on your quest.
i ran 14.8 with a stock d16a6 in a 1989 hf crx. This was on slicks. So if i can do that with a stock one. You should be able to do that with a little more hp. Good luck.

How the hell did I forget to mention a "cam"

I totally agree with DEF- I did it with my 89 CRX Si (d16a6), but with street tires.

with just bolting in a z6, with the proper tuning to actually make it run correctly you should be damn close to 14s, with i/h/e, you SHOULD be mid to high 14's. That is, if you kno how to drive..
My buddy in an 88 hf, swapped to z6 with a borrowed zdyne, ran a 14.7 with stock manifold, and exhaust.
