D16Z6 bottom, D16Y8 top with Mistsu TDO5H. what to expect?
I will be basically running a D16Z6 bottom, D16Y8 top with Mistsu TDO5H, BOV and IC.
All the internals are stock, the head is ported and polished (nothing major, had a JG cam but we won't go there friends). I also have a lightened flywheel. All this is in my 5G hatch. What can I expect the turbo to spool like, and what kind of top end power will I have?
What can I expect from this hp wise and 1/4 mile wise.
I know these are all bull s_h_i_t_ questions but the turbo is going on soon and I'm just getting excited and wanted to know some numbers from my fellow SOHC vtec'ers. I'm figureing about 200-220hp and low 14's or high 13's.

you don't mean the d16z6 head?! if not, i would do it the other way around. i mean...why not go ahead and use the v-tec. depending on your compression, if it's not high enough, then that tiny motor is going to take a while to spool that turbo i would think. maybe make a hybrid turbo. just use the tdo5h with a smaller turbine so you won't have to wait all day to boost.

Re: D16Z6 bottom, D16Y8 top with Mistsu TDO5H. what to expect? (not so civic)
the turbo is the 14B which has the the smaller wheel than the 16 or 18.
as for the head, the D16Y7 was non-vtec and the D16Y8 was vtec. Now I have the D16Y8 head on my D16Z6 block cause it was a fresh head and upped my compression. the Z6 head would be at 9.1:1 and the Y8 head brings me to about 9.3:1...................think so.
Anyway correct me if I'm wrong.
The turbo looks pretty some compared to some I've seen. Hoping that it will spool some where around 2000rpm.
Any thoughts?

Installing a Y8 head on a Z6 block raises your compression ratio by +.5
There was an article in SCC a couple of years ago explaining the process.

Good luck, you should run quick if you boost that baby to 10+. Get a thicker head gasket to lower your compression, and maybe a MSD BTM(safer the better).
The Y8 head has a square combustion chamber that increases compression, kinda like the B16 compare to the B18c1 head.

10+ would nice. Maybe next year when I get a hondata. probably rebuild some internals?
Is there anyone using LS rods in the D16 block?
