Default B18C1 in CRX w/ Hydro ITR tranny

OK guys, I have done a couple of searches, and ended up kinda confused...

Here's my situation. Right now, I have a 97 Civic EX w/ a "Poor man's Type R" (B18C1 block, JDM ITR crank & rods, JDM CTR OS pistons, B16A head w/ CTR cams, ITR & Portflow valvesprings, Skunk2 titanium retainers & Skunk2 IM w/ bolt ons, running OBD1; P30 ECU) mated to a '00 ITR tranny.

I plan on selling the Civic and swapping that setup into my newly acquired '90 CRX HF. I already invested in the OBD0-OBD1 conversion harness. I plan on buying the HASport mount kit for hydro B-Series & HASport shift linkage for B-Series.

Now, I just wanted to make sure that I can continue to use the same axles that are on the civic in the CRX. If not, what axles do I need?

Also, will I be able to keep the same header? (DC SS JDM 4-1)

Any tips or advice to make this project run a little more smoother is really appreciated. TIA

-Vic

I believe trackwidth is not the problem , the HF knuckles might, in that case you need different outer joints. I would recommend civic sedan 88-91 EX knuckles with the factory 260mm discs (same knuckle as the EE8/EE9/EF8/EF9)

which axles were you using in the 97 civic?

also, get knuckles from a 90-91 Civic EX Sedan (88-89 didnt have EX as far as I know)

well you already have them so i'd give it a shot? lol..

I know most people go w/ 90-93 teg axles when doing b16 swaps...i hate figuring out which axles to use, always something different.

I hear that the gsr axles/int shafts work, I am personally running 90-91 teg axles and int shafts.

You will need 90-91 ex knuckles, or si/dx knuckles. The hf knuckle is too small.

Your header should work. I am running a dc 99-00 4-2-1 civic si header with no problems.

The only issue with the 4-1 header will be the ground clearance. The pipes will be closer to the ground than your typical 4-2-1 header.

The 96 gsr axles should work. At least I've been told they will work. I'll be installing mine today to find out for sure whats up.

I've been told you need to change the drivers side transmission seal to a 90-93 teg one for them to work right. (I could have something mixed up, so someone clarify for me if i'm wrong).

The only problem I see with the header is possible clearance issues w/ the crossmember.

What if you have a 90-93 tranny and 94+ axles? Do you need to change the seal to a 90-93 one?

Then you need the 94+ tranny seal for the int shaft side.

Ok you will have to cut the front crossmember for the 4-1, I had that **** and it was a pain to get it to fit with the stock CM. I don't recommend it, it's way too low.

Don't have to cut the hood man, who the hell told you that?? ------Mis-information here-------

You can use what ever axles you had, but your HF knuckles(hole for axles are too small) will not accept the axles so you have to change the knuckles to another model. Best and easiest is to get the 90-91 teg knuckles for the 10.2" brakes but the offset is a little different(slightly forward or back can't remember).

that is why everyone else is recommending you to get the 90-91 EX knuckles, same 10.2" brakes and they have the right offset. It's just harder to get.

This is all from my experience built on my CRX

The billet hasport mounts require you to cut the factory hood a hair.

Would this apply if I have an EF8 front end conversion? (I pretty much have all the pieces required for the front end except the hood & corners.)

Do I have to go with the 90-91 ex knuckles or can I use SI knuckles instead?

When you say SI are you talking about 2000 Si or CRX Si??

If your talking about the CRX Si(9.5") then you not bother, you have to pay for another knuckles anyways so why not get bigger brakes??

I can't answer the 2000 Si knuckles cause I am not familiar with the offset, but the brakes are 10.2".

YES you can use gsr/99si/itr axles

I am using 94+ gsr axles in my ef hb si b18c1 gsr tranny hasport hydro kit.
Brian of hasport is also using stock gsr axles.... (makes you wonder why people would want to get the custome axles that hasport reccomends for the hydro swap)

there are pros and cons of both. I can say i'd rather get a set of napa lifetime warentee GSR axles... hehe
