Remote wire PROBLEM!!!
hey guys,
just hooked up my new 10's with my 1000w amp. Everything is connected and done right except for one little thing. When i turn the car on, the remote wire from the head unit to the amp powers up for a spilt second, you can see the light on the amp comes on for a spilt secoind then fades out again..you guys have any idea what the problem might be?

probably fastest way to check your problem is with a light tester or a volt meter.. turn on everything and check if power is running through everything
Keep in mind that most decks have a current limit on the amp turn on lead.
If you connect to many things to it it can be overloaded. My rule was if I had more than 2 items that needed to be switched on...a relay was needed.

two seems about right. I had a customer who had a radio and 20" LCD installed into his Mercedez Sprinter (damn odd van thingy lol). Anyhow, the limo company didn't wire things up right and if the radio & TV were on at the same time they would both feed audio into the same set of speakers and it burned the radio up. I used relays controlled by the remote turn on wire to cut the TV's audio off, and when I used 3 relays, it would infact work at first, but then after 4 seconds you'd hear the relays fade back to the "off" position, and then the cross-feed would occur again.

hope this helps

this is weird that i venture over to this part of the forums and i see someone asking the same question i have. my amp deos the same thing. it goes on for a split second and fades (jbl 300.1). it started when i made left turns my sub would cut out, then it would work like 5 minutes later. now it doesnt work at all, and i did the voltage meter and it is getting power, so i thought it would be the amp, so we just checked every wire going back the HU. so we didnt see anything wrong. so we said **** it. well on my drive home, my sub kicked on for like 5 minutes and then when i made a left hand turn, it cut out and it hasne worked again in like a week
. so i dodnt think its the amp. i think im just gonna rewire it this week.

The other [for amp turning on then fading out] is a poor ground for amp.
hope this helps.
