Default changing the timing belt in a 98 si

has anyone here sucessfully removed the crankshaft bolt from a 98 civic Si (Canada model)? Its the soch vtec D16 engine. I don't have the crank pulley holder and I don't have access to a really really powerful air tool other than the impact wrench I have at home which of course isn't strong enough.

Suggestions?

Thanks

You don't have to take the crank pulley of to change the timing belt!

what do you mean you don't have to take the pulley off to change the belt. All honda's have to have the pulley removed to get at the t-belt.

Hmm never thought of that before... putting the car in 1st gear. Brilliant!

are you on CRACK????

you must remove crank pully to get the plastic cover off timing belt which means you must take crank pully off.....

since YOU DON"T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!!

Please do not reply if you have nothing to offer !

Heres what I do. If I have a pal present.

I tell him to sit in the car, put it in 5th and push on the brake pedal as hard as possible.

And yank that crank pulley as hard as possible with a breaker bar.

I usually just get a breaker bar with another 5-10 foot pipe on the end to make it easier.

Should break right loose. Good luck.
