z6 cam in a y8 head

Default z6 cam in a y8 head

hey guys my cam that is in my y8 just snaped off at the end were the distributoris so i was wondering if i can put a d16z6 cam in a d16y8 head because i can get it for really cheap

it will fit, cam timing is off 5 deg though.

so should i set the cam timing off alil then are what should i do also does ne body no the torque specs for the bolts that connect the valve springs n rocker arm etc.

You need an adjustable cam gear and you need to advance it 5 degrees to get a normal range of ignition timing adjustment on the distributor. I have the torque specs at home, I can get them for you later if you need. I'm at work right now.

The timing will be off by one sprocket tooth (4.75 degrees). So basically, you can skip a tooth on the sprocket, adjust for 5 cam degrees below TDC and adjust ignition timing to put it back at TDC.

i need the torque specs for where the rockers connect up with the cam to the head not the head studs just wanted to make sure you guys no because i dun wanna confuse u

The 8mm bolts are 16 ft lbs and the smaller 6mm bolts on the end by the cam gear are 9 ft lbs. Start with the bolts in the middle and work your way to the outside.
