the header is the exhaust manifold, and unless you are going with an intake and exhaust its pointless (all of which are components to allow more air to enter the combustion chambers, and escape, etc...). you are only looking at a max of 10hp if you're lucky. if he wants maD POWa then he needs to turbo or drop in an h22.

search

headers make a huge difference on bigger engines.........

Greddy makes a good one for the 5th gen, and the DC one is ok

out of all the bolt-ons, headers and exhaust are the most beneficial. Take that with a grain of salt though as thats not saying they will throw you back in your seat.

To get the most out of any engine, the things you need to do are cams, headwork, boost, and tuning.

Yeah. buy mine!

Header alone will do little for you. Get a complete system. And get it stainless. It will complement every power mod you do afterward.

If you are opening up the exhaust, would it be beneficial to open the intake, such as a AEM CAI?

An increase in air flow is always a good thing. Overall, a better flowing intake is important, like a CAI. Bolt-ons in general are not bad, just not where you will see the most bang for your buck improvements.

It is HEADER, not HEADERS unless you have a v6 or dual exhaust manifolds, which will not happen on a inline 4.

I know its a common mistake but its annoying .

CAI and a header usually will not produce a lot of power typically 5-10whp/tq and typically will let the system run easier and will usually yield better performance and run more efficiently.

in theory, gas milege will improve....but in the rear world, your gonna end up gunning it alot more.....so in the end, youll problaby get really shitty gas milege untill you get used to it, and overcome the urges
