i was wondering if any people have painted there header. DC Hytec ect. i was wanting to know what paint to use. i need to paint my AN-R header cause i didnt have the cash for the coating

 

auto parts stores often times carry high temp exhaust and engine paint for about 3 dollars a can.

 

would i need to prime it? i just want the header black

 

do they make high temp primer?
Id just sand it down a little and paint away

 

I've never had success with any of the "header paints", even when the surface was well-prepared. The temperatures simply get too high, and the paint ends up either burning off or peeling.

 

yeah I always hear about the paint changing colors and stuff, my dad sent his headers out to jet hot coated, inside and outside, I can let you know how that turns out

 

just paint it with the 1500 degree paint. prep the surface carefully and you will be fine. mine hase been painted for over a yr with no problems.
if you prep it right you wont need primer.

 

With proper prep/cleaning...the 1500 degree paint will hold up quite well.

 

Why bother? It'll flake and chip off eventually and serves no function. I'd at least paint it silver as a reflective as opposed to black no matter how "JDM" it is.

Why not save up for a swain's and have a purpose?

 

Use some header wrap, then just spray paint that? lol
