When are the ipod-ready alpine head units coming out?
I read in ME magazine about alpine coming out with ipod ready headunits this summer. They can browse and control the ipod right from the headunit. Does anyone have any ideas when they will be available?
Ironically they are already out...so to speak. They were beta testing the
module that was to allow the ai net units to control the ipods in march.
Keep in mind most mags have a 3 month lead time. Contact alpine
1 800-ALPINE 1 or http://www.alpine1.com

So it looks like they wont be available till late september. I dont think $100 is that bad of an msrp. I know I would get that much out of it.
Yeah, does anyone have a list of headunits this would be compatible with? Im looking at various alpine headunits, and there is quite a price range. If you are going to use external amps, and dont need mp3/wma playback... wouldnt say the Alpine CDA-9825 be just as good for using this ipod link? It has 4-volt preamps, ai-net changer controls, etc, and you can get it for like $150 on ebay shipped brand new. Besides having a more powerful internal amp, mp3/wma playback, and other features would this cheaper model do just as good of job for what I want to do?
Thanks

AFAIK the AI-Net adaptor peice makes the I-Pod act like a changer with CD-Text display... and from what I've read it should work with any AI-Net head unit (or atleast a few years old).
Alpine, and every other source I have read, specify only compatible 2004 ainet headunits are supported. I dont know what changed for the 2004 models, but this is what alpine says.
