Default The Red Key!

I gotta make a second key for my prelude. The key has a chip, so it must be coded. I already have the key, but Honda dealer told me they cannot code it without a "red key". What's a red key anyway and where do I get it? Is there a way to work around it?

If you get a T5 key they shouldn't need the red key. A regular black honda key that is *not* a T5 key already has a code programmed to it, and honda uses the red key to set the ECU to learn mode. They then have to program all your keys over again (the new one plus any old ones). The T5 key allows Honda to copy the code from any non-red key of yours to the new T5 key, so you don't have to program any new keys to the ECU.... the T5 acts like one that is already programmed

My current working key is a T5, but they still said they need a red key. From what I understand, they have to use the red key to enter the reprogramming mode and they cannot do that without it. But what I really think is it's all a bunch of bs. Even if you don't have that red key, they still gotta have a way to program keys or just make another red key for my car...but I guess, they want to make people buy new immobilizers...I hate that.
