Default GPS nav as a head unit?

I'm going to buy a GPS nav unit for my car, and I'd like to run it through my head unit. Problem is that my head unit doesn't have an aux input. So I was thinking about ditching it and just running the nav straight to a 4 channel amp. I don't want or need a Cd player. The nav comes with a radio and memory card port, so I can just put music onto that.
I'm not really into all the car audio ins and outs, but I've never heard anyone doing this, so I'm not sure if its a good idea. Anyone got any thoughts or insights?

You can do it... It's been done before.. However, the sound will tend to be very "flat", meaning that (depending on the amp) you'll have very little control over the bass & treble... If you don't care about poor sound quality, then by all means, go for it...

Are you talking about EQ settings? Or just the sound quality in general? I live over in Korea and they have some really great nav systems for cheap, with EQ controls.

If I did this, I'd have to split one set of RCAs into 2 to run a 4 channel amp, losing control of stereo sound. I could also use the gains on the amp to adjust the front/back balance. Does this sound right to anyone?

I'd like to do this, but if there's too many problems or compromises, I'll just go ahead and buy a head unit. I just don't really want one if I can get away with it. Any ideas would be great.
